THE SELF WHITES.
Mum had some beautiful Self whites in her shed, however most of the sows Self and Crested were too old for breeding. Faith,Hope,Glory,Halina and Spindrift were all between 3 and 5 years of age. They had never had a litter and had never been shown, these ladies were mums original Glenwhilk strain. There were a few young sows in the shed but only a few but this was a starting point. The old girls were all in such good condition there was no reason why they could not go to a show or two!! they were such beautiful pigs.. Glenwhilks Faith was shown a few times and finally retired after winning BEST IN SHOW and BEST SELF at Dunfermline at the grand old age of 4 1/2 years of age,we were all delighted. This pig is a beauty and a credit to my mum and for me Faith is the standard of pig that we aim to breed, hopefully in the future through careful selection of our breeding stock we will acheive this. Faith is still fit and healthy.

Though we did not have many breeding sows, we did have plenty young boars, we had to get some more breeding stock and fresh bloodlines in. Mum recommended that we contact Craig Patterson as he had some nice quality cavies. We organised a trip up to see him and came away with some nice pigs. Now our stud of Whites is up and running, we have bred some nice pigs in the past year and have done pretty well on the show bench. Along came another little star, again bred by my mum, this little girl lost her mum when she was just 2 days old...her dad kept her warm and gave her lessons on "how to be a guinea pig!!" and my mum bottle fed her every 2 hours. She is named Glenwhilks Heaven Sent. Mum gave me this little girl at 4 weeks old and told me that she looked like Faith when she was a baby. Heaven is certainly one of the biggest characters in the shed!! The S.N.C.C Youngstock show was fast approaching although she was old enough to be entered, I was in two minds. I did enter her and could not believe the result...first show and she lifted BEST IN SHOW and BEST SELF again all credit goes to my mum. I think I should leave the breeding to her!! I am sure that little Heaven has a good show career ahead of her. I hope you enjoy looking at some of the whites we have bred in our first year back in the cavy fancy.
